JOHN MUNIZ, CFISD STUDENT OF THE WEEK



Cypress Creek High School senior John Muniz, a fourth-year audio/video production (AVP) student and lead producer of UCTV, has earned awards for his cinematography, editing, graphics and audio skills. The 2016 Student Television Network convention participant is inspired by his father’s work ethic and is driven to make a show that “blows people away.”

Accomplishments: Fourth-year AVP student; lead producer of UCTV; oversees production of “This Week at Creek” show; excellence in cinematography, editing, graphics and audio; submitted work to UIL Young Filmmakers competition; participated in 2016 Student Television Network convention in Atlanta.

Favorite things to do after class: Film and edit videos
Favorite song: Gravity by John Mayer
Favorite website: YouTube. “You can entertain yourself and educate yourself at the same time.”
Favorite TV show: Prison Break. “It kept me on edge after every episode wanting to know what was going to happen next.”
Favorite movie: Pearl Harbor. “My sister is in the Navy so it’s a topic that I really care about.”
Ambition: To learn as much as I can regarding video production.
What inspires you? “My father. His work ethic and drive for success inspires me to want to be like him.”
What three things can’t you live without? My family, music and football.
What are you most looking forward to this year? “I want to make the best possible show for my school, where it really blows people away.”

WRESTLERS COMPETE IN 17 TEAM TOURNAMENT

The Wrestling Team competed in a 17 team tournament this past Saturday. Our athletes did well and came home with some hardware!

SPEECH & DEBATE TEAM TAKE FIRST PLACE OVERALL SWEEPSTAKES AT MAGNOLIA TOURNAMENT



The Cypress Creek Speech and Debate Team competed at the Magnolia Tournament and won First Place Overall Sweepstakes over the weekend. As well as team success there was plenty of individual success. Congratulations to:

DERIC CHILDRESS CHOSEN AS JUNIOR COUNCIL MEMBER

Deric Childress, a junior at Creek, was chosen as a Junior Council member by Texas Association of Student Councils.  His application was selected from hundreds throughout the state of Texas.  Deric will be helping to plan and lead a session of summer camp in July with the other student leaders that were chosen. The goal of the Texas Association of Student Councils is to devlop leadership skills, promote democracy, and establish and uphold high standards for local councils. Congratulations, Deric!
