  • service in  the community,
  • academic and leadership excellence,
  • genealogy research,
  • and his essay about George Washington,  "It's What's on the Inside that Counts."

This is his third  year to win the local SAR Eagle Scout Award and his first  year to be selected as the winner for the entire state of  Texas. He was formally recognized at the annual SAR State Convention in Dallas on April 2, 2016. Congratulations Matthew!

JUNIOR, MATTHEW CLARK SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN NASA PROGRAM

Junior Matthew Clark has been selected to attend the on-site  "Summer Experience" of the Texas High School Aerospace  Scholars (HAS) Program to be held at NASA's Johnson Space  Center (JSC) this July. After writing an essay and  completing an application, which included a letter for  Congressional recommendation, Matthew was accepted into the  on-line portion of the HAS program that lasted from December 2015 through February 2016.

During the 12 week on-line  HAS program, Matthew worked on many interesting and  challenging STEM-related assignments and projects, which was  a tremendous honor and a wonderful learning experience in  itself.  However, the week-long JSC summer internship  will continue the HAS experience for a select number of high  school students, and Matthew was recently notified that he  was invited to attend.  Prior to starting the summer  internship at NASA, Matthew will participate in a second  on-line course in order to begin team-building with his  fellow HAS high school JSC invitees.
