BASEBALL ADVANCES TO AREA PLAYOFF

Cypress Creek High School defeated Memorial High School in three games (2-1, 0-12 and 6-0) to qualify for area. The Cougars will match up with Strake Jesuit in a best-of-three series:
  • Game 1 will be Thursday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at Strake Jesuit High School (8900 Bellaire Blvd.);
  • Game 2 is Friday, May 13 at 7 p.m. at Cypress Creek High School (9815 Grant Road); and
  • Game 3, if necessary, is scheduled for Saturday, May 14 at 2 p.m. at Jersey Village High School (7600 Solomon St.).

CY CREEK EARNS PLAYOFF SPOT; BASEBALL PLAYOFFS START MAY 6


The Cy Creek Cougars celebrate earning a playoff spot. 
The District 17-6A baseball season wrapped up on April 29 with four teams qualifying for the University Interscholastic League (UIL) playoffs.
Cy-Fair High School clinched the district championship with a 15-2 record, while Langham Creek and Cypress Ranch high schools tied for second at 13-4. Langham Creek won the No. 2 seed tiebreaker after defeating Cypress Ranch in district play. Cypress Creek High School was the fourth-place finisher at 11-6.
The Region III-6A bi-district playoffs will start Friday, May 6 with the following best-of-three series:
  • Cy-Fair vs. Aldine MacArthur
    • Game 1 – May 6 at 7 p.m. at Lansford Field (1865 Aldine Bender Road);
    • Game 2 – May 7 at noon at Cy-Fair High School (22602 Northwest Freeway); and
    • Game 3, if necessary – 30 minutes after Game 2.
  • Langham Creek vs. Aldine Nimitz
    • Game 1 – May 6 at 4 p.m. at Langham Creek High School (17610 FM 529);
    • Game 2 – May 7 at 10 a.m. at Aldine Davis High School (12525 Ella Blvd.); and
    • Game 3, if necessary – 30 minutes after Game 2.
  • Cypress Ranch vs. Aldine Davis
    • Game 1 – May 6 at 7 p.m. at Aldine Davis High School;
    • Game 2 – May 7 at 1 p.m. at Cypress Ranch High School (10700 Fry Road); and
    • Game 3, if necessary – 30 minutes after Game 2.
  • Cypress Creek vs. Spring Branch Memorial
    • Game 1 – May 6 at 7 p.m. at Cypress Creek High School (9815 Grant Road);
    • Game 2 – May 7 at noon at Memorial High School (935 Echo Lane); and
    • Game 3, if necessary – 30 minutes after Game 2.

Tickets for all games will be sold at the gate for $5 apiece (students and adults).

JOSH PRIM NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-STATE FOR GOLF

Congratulations to Cougar Senior Josh Prim, recipient of the Academic All-State Award. The Texas High School Coaches Association All-State Teams recognize high school athletes who excel in GPA, class rank and ACT/SAT scores. Balancing the responsibilities of both the classroom and sports is challenging and we applaud our student athletes for rising up to the challenge. Great job Josh!

CY CREEK GIRLS WIN STATE WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIP

The Cypress Creek High School girls’ water polo team celebrates after winning the TISCA Water Polo State Championship on April 30 in College Station.
The Cypress Creek High School girls’ water polo team clinched the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA) Water Polo State Championship on April 30 at Texas A&M University, defeating Southlake Carroll 8-4 in the title game to win it all.
It was the Cypress Creek girls’ sixth all-time championship and first since 2005. Head Coach Jeff Chandler, who won his first title as the Cougars’ coach, was named TISCA Water Polo Coach of the Year.

“It was definitely a thousand-pound gorilla off my back kind of a feeling,” Chandler said. “But more than anything I’m very proud and happy for the girls. A lot of hard work and dedication went into this.”
The Cougars defeated Alamo Heights, Clear Brook and St. Agnes to advance to the championship game. They then concluded a dominant season in which they went 37-0 and never trailed in a game with an equally impressive championship performance.

“It was kind of remarkable to see, because that was the best game that a lot of those girls have ever played,” Chandler said. “The word ‘team’ is exactly it. They have great teamwork and came into this tournament a lot more loose and confident than they had the past couple years.”
Junior Sydney Coachman was named the TISCA Water Polo Player of the Year.

“She’s been a solid competitor all year,” Chandler said. “She plays both ends of the field and is just an all-around great athlete.”
The Jersey Village High School girls also represented at the state tournament, tying for fifth place overall.
In the boys’ tournament, Jersey Village tied for fifth place in the state and Cypress Creek tied for seventh place.

WAPO TEAMS HEADED TO STATE

Our Cy Creek Girl's Varsity Water Polo team won their third straight Regional Championship and our boy's finished 3rd which qualifies each team a trip to the State Water Polo Championships in College Station. Wish our WAPO teams good luck at State!

CY CREEK CHOIRS EARN UIL SWEEPSTAKES

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2015-16 CYPRESS CREEK HIGH SCHOOL CHOIRS for earning  UIL SWEEPSTAKES TROPHIES  for the 18th CONSECUTIVE YEAR!
 
The Cypress Creek  Choirs earned 4 UIL Sweepstakes Trophies at UIL Concert and Sight-reading competition. This is the 18th consecutive year that the Cypress Creek High School Choirs have earned UIL Sweepstakes Trophies.  We are proud of you!
 
Congratulations to the Cypress Creek Chorale for earning Superior 1st Division ratings from all six judges in UIL Concert and UIL Sight-reading Contest on Tuesday, April 12th at Foundry United Methodist Church.

US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT RANKS CY CREEK AS A TOP HIGH SCHOOL

US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT has published its America's Best High Schools Report. Cypress Creek High School was awarded a silver medal and ranks high in areas such Advanced Placement testing, College Readiness, graduation rates and state assessment scores. Cy Creek earned a ranking in the top 10% in Texas at 191st place and a national level ranking of 2276.
