CY CREEK GIRLS TRACK SUCCESSFUL IN STATE MEET

CFISD brought home 11 medals at the UIL State Track and Field Championships, held May 15-16 in Austin. The Cypress Creek Girls team finished ninth in the State with 21 points. 

Cypress Creek High School senior Meia Gordon won first place in both the shot put and discus events. Gordon threw a distance of 48-08 in the shot put and 155-09 in the discus.

“It felt really good to win after three trips to state,” Gordon said. “I put a little pressure on myself to do better and throw farther, and be consistent. It feels great to be a champion.” 

Additionally, Cypress Creek junior Amber Ivy placed sixth in the 400-meter dash (56.20).
