WRESTLERS EARN ALL-DISTRICT 10-6A ACHIEVEMENTS

Jersey Village High School senior Ruben Salazar, a wrestler in the 152-pound weight class, was named Male Wrestler of the Year by CFISD wrestling coaches.

Wrestlers from all 10 CFISD high schools were named to the All-District 10-6A team, released by district coaches last week.

Coaches also voted for the District 10-6A Male and Female Wrestlers of the Year for their performance through the state tournament. Cypress Falls High School senior Allissa Maldonado, who competed in the 102-pound division, was named Female Wrestler of the Year. Jersey Village High School senior Ruben Salazar, who competed in the 152-pound division, was named Male Wrestler of the Year.

Cypress Falls High School senior Allissa Maldonado, a state champion wrestler in the 102-pound weight class, was named Female Wrestler of the Year by CFISD wrestling coaches. 

First Team All-District selections were the district champions in their respective weight classes, Second Team All-District selections were the second regional qualifiers at their weight and Honorable Mention All-District selections were the third and fourth regional qualifiers at their weight.

“This was a great season for wrestling in our community,” said Ray Zepeda, CFISD associate director of athletics. “We are very appreciative of all of the hard work that our coaches and athletes put into this season. Their contributions allowed us to host a very successful state tournament and to have a great season.”
